It was Christmas morning, and the sky outside Sparkle the Otter’s window was soft and white.
❄️ Snowflakes danced down from the sky.
✨ Christmas lights sparkled on houses.
🎄 Trees stood tall with shiny ornaments.
Sparkle the Otter stretched big and wide.
“Good morning, Christmas!” Sparkle said with a smile.
Sparkle jumped out of bed and peeked outside again.
“Oh wow!” Sparkle squeaked. “Snow! Lights! Trees! Christmas movies! Hot cocoa!”
Sparkle put on a cozy scarf and tip-toed around the room, singing a happy Christmas tune. Sparkle loved Christmas decorations. Sparkle loved presents. Sparkle loved everything about today.
Sparkle even pulled out a small AJM Cleaning Services Christmas t-shirt and folded it neatly.
“Today is Christmas,” Sparkle said. “But I don’t feel like cleaning today.”
Just then, a gentle voice said,
“Sparkle, Christmas is fun… but do you remember why we celebrate?”
Sparkle stopped and thought.
“Isn’t it about joy?” Sparkle asked.
“Yes,” the voice said kindly.
“And love?”
“Yes,” said the voice.
“And gifts?”
“Yes,” the voice smiled again.
“But most of all, Christmas is about Jesus.”
Sparkle sat down quietly.
“Long ago,” the voice said, “God sent His Son, Jesus, to be born as a baby. God did that because He loves us.”
Sparkle’s heart felt warm.
Sparkle opened a big book—the Bible—and read slowly out loud:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16 (EHV)
Sparkle whispered, “Thank You, God, for loving us so much.”
Soon it was time to go to church. Sparkle put on the Christmas AJM Cleaning Services t-shirt, wrapped the scarf snug around the neck, and walked with joy.
At church, Sparkle sang songs.
Sparkle listened to the story of baby Jesus.
Sparkle prayed and said thank you.
After church, Sparkle smiled and said,
“Today I will rest. Today I will celebrate.”
Sparkle did not clean houses.
Sparkle did not mop floors.
Sparkle took a special Christmas day off.
Instead, Sparkle traveled to family homes. Sparkle gave hugs. Sparkle shared smiles. Sparkle laughed and ate yummy Christmas food.
Everyone talked about Jesus.
Everyone felt thankful.
Everyone felt loved.
As the sun went down and the Christmas lights glowed bright, Sparkle looked at the tree and whispered:
“Christmas is not just about things.
Christmas is about Jesus, God’s love, and family.”
Sparkle curled up cozy and happy.
“Merry Christmas,” Sparkle said softly.
“Jesus is the greatest gift of all.”
